Jordan Sanchez and Tami Waters will open Fresno’s newest gelato shop in the heart of Downtown Fresno.
Gelateria Del Centro, located at 2017 Tuolumne St. beside Warnor’s Theatre, will have its ribbon-cutting on Nov. 17 at noon with a celebration happening at 6 p.m.
The gelato spot will be the first for Downtown Fresno and was inspired by a trip to Italy. The spot will also offer vegan options.
According to a previous article in The Fresno Bee, after being laid off from her job at Bitwise, Sanchez had the capacity to open a small business.
“Well, I’m actually a part of Fresno Sister Cities and one of our sister cities is Verona, Italy. And so, I got to travel with a group of friends and there [I] got to know more about my roots and Italian heritage. [I got to] taste the amazing gelato that Italy has to offer and wanted to bring a taste of that back to Downtown Fresno,” Sanchez said in an interview with Central Valley Today.
The Gelateria Del Centro Instagram page has been updating followers on Kickstarter status updates as well as giving behind-the-scenes glimpses of the new space.
Following the grand opening, Gelateria Del Centro will have a Christmas celebration on Dec. 7 during Art Hop with opportunities to take photos with Santa Claus.
