More heat is sure to be had in Fresno. Fuego Futbol Club has a new home at the Fresno State Soccer Stadium along with a new face in the coaching chair.

The Central Valley now has its own professional soccer team in the heart of Fresno. This team has lots of talent with previous professional experience. Adding onto the experience of the club is newly announced Head Coach Jermaine Jones.

Most commonly known for his United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) appearance, he has established quite the career for himself ever since. In his time with the USMNT, he stacked multiple World Cup appearances, most notably contributing to the team’s road to the round 16 in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

“I am thrilled to join CV Fuego FC and to immediately begin building a team that the community will be proud of,” said Jones.

This will be Jones’ first appointment as a Head Coach of a senior team. He recently was the Assistant Coach for the USA Boys U19 program. Jones is also a holder of the prestigious UEFA Pro coaching license.

In 2022 the club picked up Jose Villareal who previously played in the MLS for the LA Galaxy, Orlando City SC and the Las Vegas Lights FC. Along with some global experience, Villareal played with the Global FC of the Philippines Football League.

The preparation for the upcoming season is underway with registration now open for the 2024 season. The open tryouts are set for December 3rd with limited openings available. On top of all the exciting news, a new partnership was just announced to debut in 2024 between the United Soccer League (USL) and CBS Sports.

The highly anticipated new chapter for the Fuego FC will be underway in 2024 at the Fresno State Soccer Stadium.
