For the first time since 2002, the Bulldogs are back in the NCAA tournament and facing the number one seed, Stanford.

Fresno State received an automatic bid into the tournament due to their deep Mountain West Conference tournament run, in which they came out of it as the champions. A tall task awaits up north for the Bulldogs. They have their signature belief that has stuck with them all season, “Why not us?”

“This is a business trip for us and we’re going to go get a win,” said first year head coach, Leisa Rosen. The Bulldogs have a strong support system behind them, lots of fans traveled to Las Vegas for the championships to support. Nothing less is expected for the trip up to the Bay Area.

This is a huge step in the right direction for the program and they need the “Red Wave” to support. For those fans planning on attending who are traveling from Fresno, it’s best to get a head start to beat the busy Friday traffic heading up to the Bay Area. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at Maples Pavillion in Stanford, California.

For a Friday, the drive is expected to take about three and a half hours up to Stanford but could be less, but plan for the long haul. Depart time from Fresno should be around 2:30 p.m. so you can catch the starting lineups and pregame festivities. Stanford University is definitely the place to be for NCAA tournament action.

The fastest route would be to take Highway 99 North all the way to Los Banos, take Pacheco Pass Highway, then cut through Gilroy onto the 101 North all the way up to the final exit, El Camino Real.

There are a few parking options available on campus next to the Pavilion. Parking structure 7 which is located across Campus Drive from Maples Pavilion. More parking is available in the Varsity and Visitor Center lots.

Make sure to grab your favorite Fresno State gear and show up and show out for the Bulldogs this Friday. Let’s bring the Valley to the Bay and upset the nation Red Wave!
