Meet the faces behind Flourishing Fresno

Carlos Rene Castro, a senior at Fresno State majoring in digital journalism, is a multimedia reporter for The Collegian. Utilizing writing, photography, and video, he tells the stories of the Fresno State community, with a passion for amplifying voices in underserved communities.
Makenna Deeth is a junior transfer student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Media Communications & Journalism, with an emphasis on broadcasting. She transferred in from Gavilan College, born and raised in the Bay Area and has been involved in sports her whole life. Her sports background has established her dream career of being a sideline sports reporter for ESPN. She enjoys playing volleyball, traveling, modeling, and being with family and friends.


Dylan Gonzales is a senior at Fresno State. He is majoring in MCJ Digital Journalism. His passion is sports writing but he equally enjoys writing stories where he gets to meet new people and tell their stories. He his very excited to be part of the Flourishing Fresno team.
Tere Joyce Randolph is a returning college student after working professionally as a stand-up comedian for 25 years. She is currently a MCJ Digital Journalism major at Fresno State. She is a former reality television star, and was a finalist on two seasons of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Randolph has worked in commercials, radio, and film. 40 years ago she was a Theater Arts major at Fresno City College, and has had lead roles at FCC, and Roger Rocka’s Good Company Players circa 1980’s.

Amanda De Anda is a non-stop creative. She is a Fresno State student pursuing her degree in public relations and advertisement while interning with Flourishing Fresno and Colibri Creative Studios. Amanda is passionate about helping small businesses master their online presence. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her family.
